your resume

Establish your network of collaborators

NTI’s unique intensive schedule and well-rounded curriculum give post-grad students the opportunity to develop their artistic visions, build confidence as professionals, and connect with masters from the industry.

As a post-grad student at NTI, you will gain countless hours of work experience; not just in the discipline you intend to focus on, but in multiple different areas of theater. Each theater lab (in which you have 15 hours to put up a fully-realized scene from a play) comes with their own set of challenges and ensemble members, accumulating your depth of theatrical experiences. Walking out of the program, you will have a new repertoire of shows that you will have worked on, which you may find yourself talking about in professional settings for years to come. The sheer amount of hours you are given to devote solely to developing your art is unique in and of itself.

We also believe our large alumni network is invaluable to you as a recent college grad. By the time your 14 weeks is over, you will have worked closely with over 30 of your ensemble members; who will have their own perspectives, artistic visions, and backgrounds. This unique network of artists will likely remain your closest friends and collaborators for the rest of your life.

Meeting working professionals on a weekly basis will connect you to the current state of theater, and the individuals who are responsible for it. Not only will you get to meet our extensive network of professionals, but you’ll actually get the chance to work with them, giving you access to future jobs, auditions, and professional references for years to come.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IF I ALREADY HAVE A THEATER DEGREE, WILL THE PROGRAMS BE DEMANDING ENOUGH?

If your expectations for the program are not being met, or you do not feel challenged, we will have a conversation with you about what we can do to fix that. We strive to accommodate our students’ needs in whatever ways possible. If you are not feeling valued to the best of your ability in your creative environment, you won’t be willing to take risks and get to explore your art the way you deserve to at NTI. We strive to be diligent about the growth (or lack thereof) for all of our students, and will always be attuned to your needs.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE AGE OF STUDENTS AT NTI?

We work to develop the resources in you that are necessary to being an excellent collaborator, ensemble member, and theatrical facilitator. Therefore, you will most likely be working with students of all ages, since you will have to in the professional theater world. While the majority of our students are in college, some have not yet started college, and approximately a quarter have already completed college. You will also be surrounded by a select number of students from our MFA/MA program. These MFA/MA candidate students will join us on campus for one year as part of their training If your expectations for the program are not being met, or you do not feel challenged, we will have a conversation with you about what we can do to fix that. WHAT DO POST GRADS THINK OF THE PROGRAM?

“I absolutely loved my time at NTI. I loved the intensity of the program and what it asked of me on a daily basis. It taught me to not just trust my instincts, but to love my instincts. I left NTI extremely motivated and energized by the rigor, love, and dedication that was installed in me there.” “I went to NTI after being frustrated by a lack of rigor and artistic exploration at my liberal arts college. Going to NTI not only affirmed my dedication to becoming a director but made me aware that a career in the arts is possible." “My semester at NTI was essential to my own education as a creative artist. It allowed me to explore, discover, and create pieces of theater seven-days- a week. It was the performing arts training I have always wanted but have never had at my college. I was constantly pushing myself and pushing down my own barriers. It truly is a place of magic.” “The training I got from NTI was world-class, and I think that anybody who is serious and driven about creating theater should do the program." “Overall, this program absolutely changed my life, it was such a vital experience for me and I feel that it turned me from a theater fan into someone ready to work in the theater professionally.”
